This report is the 9th edition of the study of the niobium and niobium products market in the world, Russia, the EAEU countries and the forecast of its development.
Market monitoring has been conducted since 1997.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the market of niobium-containing concentrates, niobium pentoxide, ferroniobium, metallic niobium, niobium ligatures. The state of niobium raw materials and products in the world market is briefly considered.
Objects of study: niobium ores, niobium concentrates (pyrochlore, loparite, tantalite), niobium pentoxide, ferroniobium, metallic niobium, ligatures and alloys.
This review is the most complete among those presented on the information market on this topic and claims to be a reference guide, because Rosstat reports do not provide complete information on the volumes of production of niobium-containing products, and not all manufacturers report data on the output of these goods. The use of fragmentary, unsystematized data may lead to erroneous management decisions by marketing departments and specialists working in the niobium market.
The second distinctive feature of this work is the breadth of the geographical and time frames - a detailed analysis of the production and foreign trade transactions with metallic niobium and niobium-containing products was carried out not only in Russia, but also in the CIS countries in the period 1997-2024.
This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat), the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); Unified Information System in the Sphere of Procurement; railway transportation statistics; SBIS database; The State Customs Service of Ukraine, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the State Statistics Committee of the CIS, international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map, UNdate), Tantalum-Niobium International Study Center (TIC), and the InfoMine database. Data from the industry and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of issuers of securities, websites of producers and consumers of niobium and niobium-containing products were also used. The materials of the InfoMine reviews were used: "Review of the Market of Rare Earth Elements (Metals) and Their Compounds in Russia (15th edition, 2024), "Review of the Market of Tantalum and Its Products in the World" (1st edition, 2017).
Chronological framework of the study: 1997-2024; forecast – up to 2030
Research geography: Russian Federation – comprehensive detailed market analysis; EAEU and world countries – analysis of foreign trade activities and partial consideration of production.
Research volume: the report consists of 8 parts, contains 156 pages, including 60 tables, 45 figures, 6 appendices.
The first chapter of the report provides a brief description of the world market of niobium raw materials and metallic niobium (reserves, production, production, export-import of ferroniobium by country, world consumption structure) in 2001-2024.
The second chapter of the report examines the mineral resource base of niobium in the CIS countries (in more detail in Russia), provides the structure of reserves and characteristics of the main deposits. The state of Russian producers of niobium in concentrate in 1997-2024 is described.
The third chapter of the report is devoted to the analysis of plans for the development of new niobium deposits in Russia. The development of the Zashikhinsky and Tomtorsky projects is considered in more detail.
The fourth chapter presents an analysis of the production of niobium-containing products (ferroniobium, pentoxide, metallic niobium, ligatures) in Russia and Kazakhstan in 1997-2024.
The fifth chapter of the report examines foreign trade transactions with niobium concentrates, ferroniobium, niobium pentoxide, metallic niobium and niobium ligatures in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine in 1997-2024.
The sixth chapter presents the dynamics of prices for ferroniobium and niobium pentoxide on the world and Russian markets in 2000-2024.
The seventh chapter is devoted to the consumption of niobium in Russia in 1997-2024. This section contains a production-consumption balance for this metal and a consumption structure.
The eighth chapter examines the prospects of the Russian niobium market up to 2030 based on an analysis of the development of consuming industries. In general, the position of the industries using niobium and the prospects for their development give grounds to assert that the growth of consumption of this metal will continue in the near future.
The appendices provide contact information on manufacturing and consumer enterprises, the distribution of niobium reserves by country (as of 2006), as well as data on the export and import of niobium-containing products in 1999-2008.
The target audience of the study:
– niobium market participants – manufacturers, consumers, traders;
– potential investors.
The proposed study is intended to serve as a reference guide for marketing departments and decision-makers working in the niobium market.
