This report is the 4th edition of the Russian Coal Market Survey.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the coal market of the Russian Federation
The object of research is power and coking coals, coal concentrates. Particular attention is paid to the consumption of coal products, indicating the volumes and grade of coal used by the largest Russian consumers.
This work is a desk study. The sources of information were the data of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat), the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS of the Russian Federation), statistics of railway transportation.
Also, when working on the report, materials from the industry and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers, data from the Internet sites of coal producers and consumers were used.
Chronological scope of the study: 2000-2020; forecast - up to 2035
Geography of research: Russian Federation - a comprehensive detailed analysis of the market, the world market - a summary of coal mining.
Research volume: the report consists of 6 parts, contains 149 pages, including 85 tables and 23 figures.
The first chapter is devoted to coal mining in Russia. The chapter provides statistical data on the dynamics of production of various types of coal in 2000-2020, as well as on the volumes of solid fuel production by the largest enterprises in the industry. In addition, this chapter provides data on global coal production.
The second chapter of the report analyzes the export supplies of coal from the Russian Federation in 2007-2020. The largest Russian exporters of both thermal and coking coal have been identified: data on the volumes and main directions of export are given.
The third chapter of the report examines data on the volumes of Russian imports of coal in 2011-2020. The information on the quality characteristics of the imported fuel, as well as on the directions and volumes of supplies is given. The largest consumers of imported coal have been identified.
The fourth chapter analyzes the dynamics of prices for steam and coking coal, both on the world market and on the domestic market of Russia in 2013-2021.
The fifth chapter is devoted to the consumption of Russian coal in the domestic market. The main groups of consumers have been determined, the volumes of consumption have been estimated, and the main trends in this market segment have been identified.
The chapter shows the balance of production, consumption, export and import of coal in Russia in 2012-2020.
It also provides data on the volumes of coal use by the largest consumers (more than 100 thousand tons / year) in Russia in 2012-2020.
Among the main consumers are electric power plants, coke-chemical plants, cement plants, chemical industry enterprises.
The sixth chapter provides forecast data on the volumes of coal consumption in Russia in the future until 2035. The main program documents that determine the development of the coal industry are considered.
